The Reason ....

In August I posted this "Does Your Life Have Meaning"? Being the voice for the voiceless gives me *GREAT* pleasure and fullfills the need of meaning in my life! I'm sure you have heard of "Rescue Ink" as they have made a name for themselves all over the nation in the blink of an eye!!! All of thier rescue stories touch me greatly but every now and then I just have to stop and take a deep breath..... "Vesper" was rescued by RI and I have been following his story and recovery : {

                                                                                                                                              MEET VESPER - RESCUE INK'S  newest ambassador of life here at our Halfway Home Sanctuary... Vesper has not known a good day in his life...until now. Thanks to a caring and determined ACO - Jimmy - Vesper now has a new chance to live. Vesper is 10 years old and has lived a life of torture...broken bones, acid burns, star...vation, severe neglect and the most cruel abuse...but he survived it all to see another day and find his guardian angels and now is his chance to heal. Please help Rescue Ink help Vesper. Immediate x-rays, medications, surgeries and every possible effort we can make to change his life from this day on will be his right and privilege. Vesper cries out in pain and discomfort and you can hear from the deepest place in his body that he has survived so much misery. It is heart breaking and yet the wag of his tail and his unwavering focus on the faces of these new people who will do anything to keep him safe and make him better and make sure that he never sees another day of discomfort again - lifts your spirit to see. Vesper is a horrible reminder of the basest places that people's will goes - but now he will be an ambassador of the will of these amazing creatures to push on and live to find a better day. Saturday Oct 30th                                                                                                             Rescue Ink talked to some school kids about Bullies and they wrote Vesper a poem...  

Sunday Oct 31st 8:44pm                                                                                                      Vesper is good, but not out of danger yet... when his swelling goes down and he stops oozing out of his wounds then we will feel safe. The amount of infection that is running through this boy is unreal, we just have our fingers crossed and are trying to keep him comfortable.

It has been days watching over Vesper and offering our strength and friendship, food and water, warm bed and lots of medication and tonight we got a smile as a reward... What a sign of appreciation shown from a broken body with an indominable spirit inside.

Wednesday Nov 3rd 9:40am                                                                                     Vesper is full of spirit today. He is gaining weight fast and now we will start to tackle the mange. His special food - thanks to Royal Canin - is the perfect balance to give him a head start on healing. We take it one day at a time - but the rewards of seeing him up and wagging and looking for some love are the highlight of every day.

Wednesday Nov 3rd 9:40am                                                                    Vesper is one dog who has lived a life of pain, neglect and torture at the hands of humans, he came to Rescue Ink barely holding onto life. He now is responsible for bringing together thousands of humans who may be strangers in life but are now one big family for Vesper. Thank you to all who have donated, sent prayers and care packages and thank you all for the support, Vesper is an angel here among us...

Stephanie's New Life . . .

Funny how things come to us in our lives. One of my favorite things to do to unwind is blog hop and I have done very little for quite sometime now. Tonight however, I ended up on Sophia's blog which I have not been on for at least 6 months. Not sure why really because she is always so inspiring to me! I wanted to share this with all of you . . .

American Idol, fundraisers and my newest rescue . . .

As many of you already know I am working furiously on my fund-raiser for animal rescue that I am hosting in June. As much work as this has been, I know that the rewards will way surpass the work! If I have learned anything in this lifetime it is the pleasure I receive by paying it forward and giving back to the community. For me it is helping the animals, being their voice......

When the heart is full, what's left????

Speaking of rescue, we have a new addition at our house! Her name is "Tasha" and she is a 6 year old Umbrella Cockatoo. Like most humans, they grew tired of her after only having her 8 months. This was her 2nd home, we are her 3rd. It is an unfortunate thing how we humans can take such an incredible loving being for granted. They bond for life with us. We humans take them from their natural habitat, cage them for hours and hours and then wonder why they get mean, pluck all their feathers out and self mutilate!!! We got lucky with "Tasha" as she took to both of us immediately. I love watching her with my standard poodle "Daphne" because it is very apparent that "Tasha" has picked up on "Daphne's" gentle spirit and nature as last night they were nose to beak with "Tasha" touching ""Daphne's" nose with her tongue. It was amazing!!!! She is thin from being on a seed diet but we are already making leaps and bounds with switching her over to a organic pellet diet! Here is her new play climbing gym we picked up for her at the bird show this past weekend. Quite the investment in her already . . . 2 new cages, play gym, numerous toys, oh my we shall spoil this girl as it should be!!! (working on outside aviary now) 

 
I was shocked at how quickly she took to her new play gym! It is perfect as it sits right between JD & I's recliners.....right where she wants to be ; }

American Idol.....

I have to admit although I have been watching AI, I am glad that Simon has created his new show because I am over AI! In my opinion, it has wore out it's welcome....enough already.

My favorite this year has been Crystal Bowersox's with Lee DeWyze coming in 2nd. I knew all along that it would be the two of them in the end.

An Elephant Never Forgets - Her Friend

They harbor no fears, no secrets, no prejudices. Just two living creatures who somehow managed to look past their immense differences.

To my close friends who mean the world to me, I dedicate this moving story. I may get too busy, or too impersonal in the way I connect with you, but really this tremendously moving example of friendship and honest affection is what it’s all about. It’s what our lives aspire to be, and our need to preserve the human contact we constantly crave. As humans, we still have much to learn.

If you know much about me then you know exactly my opinion on this topic and are probably quite shocked that I have not posted a comment here on my blog before now. I was attempting to work through my disgust of who we are becoming as a human race. Why have we become so greedy and why do we lack compassion for GOD's wild living creatures?

Exactly how do we think the human would develop in captivity? Kept in a small confined room unable to stretch or exercise? Do you think you as a human would become pathological? Do you think you would be driven to KILL? Chances are good . . .

Cousteau makes a statement sharing his qualified opinion and isn't it interesting that he feels & believes exactly as I do in this situation!!

Jean-Michel Cousteau comments on the tragedy on February 24th, 2010, when trainer Dawn Brancheau was dragged into the water and killed by Tilikum, an orca at Sea World's Orlando park. This is the third death associated with Tilikum while in captivity. The tragic death of the trainer suggests that maybe we have outgrown the need to keep such wild, enormous, complex, intelligent and free-ranging animals in captivity, where their behavior is not only unnatural, it can become pathological.
